El teatro de sombras es una de las formas más mágicas de contar historias. Seguramente que todos hemos hecho sombras con nuestras manos en cuanto veíamos la más mínima oportunidad. Si había un foco de luz que nos lo permitiera, allá íbamos con nuestras manos para hacer las formas más representativas de animales: el perro, la paloma… El teatro de sombras es una de las representaciones teatrales más antiguas de la historia y que, a día de hoy, sigue manteniendo ese encanto que nos hechiza.

Su origen más ancestral se encuentra en las cavernas prehistóricas, cuando se realizaban sombras con las manos utilizando el fuego como fuente de iluminación. Después, se desarrollará en Oriente y nacerá el teatro de sombras chinescas, declarado en el año 2011 como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

El teatro de sombras sigue manteniendo su sencillez y hoy en día está cobrando fuerza en los colegios  como herramienta educativa en el aula. En una sociedad saturada de tecnología donde los niños ya están acostumbrados a manejar dispositivos móviles desde muy pequeños, el teatro de sombras sigue funcionando como el primer día. Los beneficios que nos aporta son múltiples: estimula la imaginación y la observación, desarrolla la inteligencia emocional, entre otros.
